   Modak is a popular Indian receipe in the Maharashtra and Goa regions and in the Indian subcontinent Konkan. It is considered one of the most popular foods by Lord Ganesha and is therefore used in prayers.Modak is made with rice flour dough and a sweet coconut, jaggery and nuts filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ghee 
  • 2 cup coconut, grated
  • 1 cup jaggery
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 cup water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2 cup rice flour
Steps
  • Heat ghee in a pan.Add grated cocunut.keep a flame low.
  • Now add 1 cup jaggery and mix well.
  • Continue to cook over medium heat until the jaggery has melted.
  • Continue to cook until the mixture thickens and remains moist.
  • Now add cardamom powder and mix well. the push is ready. keep aside.
  • First, in a large kadai take two cups of water, ½ tsp salt and 1 tsp ghee.
  • Mix well and bring to a boil.
  • Also add 2 cups of rice flour and mix well.
  • Mix until the rice flour absorbs all the water.
  • Cover and rest for 5 minutes.
  • Now transfer to a large bowl and begin to knead the dough. wet your hand to protect it from heat.
  • Knead for five minutes or until the dough turns soft.
  • Modak dough is ready.
  • Coat the modak mold with ghee or a little oil. Then close or lock the mold. Insert a ball of dough into the mold and press it down to create a space in the middle. The rice dough will form a layer that touches the mold walls.
  • Put the sweet stuffing.
  • Cover the bottom with a small piece of dough. Press and smooth to modak .

  • Make all modaks this way. Brush or grease the pan with oil or ghee. The pan can also be served with banana leaves or turmeric leaves. Place the modak in a greased pan with the space next to them.
  • Take 2 to 2.5 cups of water per pot, pressure cooker or Instant Pot steel insert. Put on a trivet or rack. Heat the water until it starts to boil in the upper flame. In a quick pot, use the option to remove and allow the water to start boiling.
  • I put in two pans for smoking 21 modaks. But you can also burn the modak in different batches. Just cover it with a moist cotton ball or cotton cloth before you start to get angry.
  • Cover pan with steam modak for 10 to 15 minutes in medium heat. In the Instant Pot, use the steam function at the top to evaporate and keep the steam air in the holding area so that the steam is released while it is hot. Use a stopwatch to set the time to 10 or 16 minutes. Once the ukadiche modak has been heated, you can rub a few teaspoons of ghee on it. Some modaks may crack while molding or smoking, but it's okay. You can forgive yourself if you do a modak for the first time.
  • The modak is ready to be donated to Bhagwan Ganesha.
